The Boy Scout Troop 451 was founded in 1969 by 10 scouts and has now grown up to more than 50 scouts with the help of the sponsor of the Turlock Methodist Church, the help of parents, and other volunteers. With this help the troop puts on 10 -11 activities a month for the scouts to help them learn survival, safety and camping skills. It has become a tradition for the troop to have an annual summer camp at Yosemite's “Scout Island”.
Shortly after the unit Pack 451 for children under 11 started. In 2021, the girl Troop 2451 was formed. The three (Pack 451, Troop 451, Troop 2451) work together to provide the best possible experience to scouts & families.
Every August Troop 451 holds a court of honor in Scout Island, located at Yosemite lake in Merced. For the 25 year anniversary, the unit had something special planned.
The 451 unit family just got bigger. Girls are able to join the co-ed Pack 451 or girl Troop 2451. This makes it especially convenient for scouting families that want to provide the same enrichment and growth opportunities for both their son(s) and daughter(s).
